Rutherford County, TN - Newly proposed bills in the Tennessee General Assembly would help fund some of the school growth that Rutherford County is experiencing. JC Bowman, Executive Director of the Professional Educators of Tennessee told WGNS News… The Tennessee Investment in Student Achievement bill allows for schools exceeding a 2% growth rate for two-consecutive-years to be eligible for an infrastructure stipend. If the bill passes the House and Senate and receives the Governors signature, it could give Rutherford County additional funds to use towards the construction of new schools during the next school year.

Another bill that is on the horizon deals with a subject that has made headlines in recent months, a bill that focuses on 3rd grade retention. Bowman told WGNS… Bowman said a slew of bills are moving through the Tennessee General Assembly at a rapid pace.
