Former Rutherford County Sheriff Truman Jones interviewed Larry Castelli who is originally from Memphis, Tennessee. Mr. Castelli and his wife later moved to Nashville, Tennessee as his wife finished college. Later, Castelli and his bride made the move to Rutherford County. He told Jones that he has now lived in Murfreesboro, longer than he has lived elsewhere, including his hometown of Memphis.
Mr. Castelli once lived in a historic home located on the prized East Main Street in Murfreesboro. The house, which was built in the 1800's, supposedly had a ghost that shared the residence. Castelli, who raised his three children in the home, talked about the day his daughter met a ghost in the house. At the time, his daughter was only a young child. He said that was the one and only ghostly encounter his family had in the historic home and it was not a frightful experience for his daughter, but it was an experience he remembered in the pre-Civil War era home that was supposedly used as a hospital during the Civil War.
