Murfreesboro, TN - The Rutherford County Library System (RCLS) has named Luanne R. James as its new Library Director, effective July 28, 2025, marking a new chapter for the county’s growing commitment to reading and technology access.
James brings over 25 years of leadership in public libraries across Texas and South Carolina, most recently serving with the York County Public Library System in Fort Mill. Her accomplishments there include managing grant programs, leading strategic initiatives, and analyzing systemwide data—skills she plans to bring to Rutherford County as interest in library services continues to climb.
"We are thrilled to welcome Luanne to our library system and our community," said Phil King, RCLS Board Chair. "Her leadership and expertise make her the ideal person to guide RCLS into the future."
As director, James will oversee operations across all library branches, with a focus on expanding access to digital technologies, enhancing library spaces, and advancing strategic planning. Her appointment comes as national and local trends show a rise in both technology-centered programming and traditional reading engagement, particularly among young families and adult learners seeking career development resources.
