UPDATE: Tennessee Revises Congressional Districts, Opens Special Candidate Qualifying Period

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee General Assembly has adopted revised congressional district maps and established a special qualifying period for candidates seeking election to the United States House of Representatives. Maps showing the newly revised congressional districts are available through the Tennessee Secretary of State’s Office.

Additional candidates may qualify for either the primary or general election between now and noon on Friday, May 15, 2026. Candidate petitions may be obtained from the State Division of Elections or local county election commission offices. The State Division of Elections is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Hours for local election commission offices vary by county.

New candidates are required to collect at least 25 signatures from registered voters residing within a county that is part of the congressional district. Original petitions must be filed with the State Division of Elections, located at 312 Rosa L. Parks Ave., 7th Floor, William R. Snodgrass Tower, Nashville, TN 37243, no later than noon on Friday, May 15, 2026.

Candidates who previously qualified for the 2026 congressional elections may continue running in the newly redrawn district carrying the same district number. Those wishing to change districts or withdraw from the race may do so by submitting a notarized statement to the State Division of Elections, Attention: Coordinator of Elections.
