MURFREESBORO, TN - Main Street Murfreesboro, in collaboration with the Rutherford County Government and City of Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation, has launched the USA 250 Community Mural Mosaic Project. This public art initiative is designed to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the United States through a massive, collaborative installation titled "The Patriot’s Flag."
The project invites local residents to contribute to a permanent piece of history by hand-painting 650 individual 4x4 tiles. When assembled, these tiles will form a large-scale mosaic featuring a bald eagle set against the backdrop of the American flag. The finished mural, measuring 8 feet by 16 feet, will be installed on the historic Shacklett’s Photography building at 105 South Church Street, positioned next to the Rutherford County Historic Courthouse.
Organizers emphasize that the mural is intended to be a collective masterpiece, representing the diverse stories and artistic expressions of the Murfreesboro and Tennessee communities. Participation is free and open to all ages and skill levels, with all painting supplies provided at scheduled events.
