LEBANON, Tenn. (WGNS) - A prominent Rutherford County educator is in the running to lead a neighboring school district. The Wilson County Board of Education and its Human Resources Department announced that Oakland High School Principal Dr. John Marshall is a top-five finalist for the Wilson County Director of Schools position. Marshall is the only Rutherford County administrator to make the final cut.

The pool of candidates also includes local Wilson County leaders like Deputy Director Travis Mayfield, Lebanon High Principal Dr. Scott Walters, Jonathon Duncan from Sumner County and Dr. Chris Plummer from Metro Nashville Public Schools. One previous finalist, Josh Johnston, withdrew his name from the search earlier this week.

The Wilson County board is inviting the public to get to know the candidates before a final decision is made. A "Meet and Greet" session will take place this Friday, April 24th, from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Administrative & Training Complex. Formal interviews follow on Wednesday, April 29th, starting at 10 AM. While the interviews will not be live-streamed, the district plans to post recordings on its website after the sessions conclude.
