MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) - Murfreesboro Fire Rescue Department (MFRD) crews were called Saturday to battle a residential fire that broke out on Hamberton Circle. The fire started in a laundry room appliance, but thanks to a quick response, the fire was contained.

Upon arrival, the crew from Engine 9 discovered smoke and flames coming from a clothes dryer. Firefighters acted quickly to douse the fire. The crew disconnected the dryer and moved the unit to the exterior of the residence.
Because of the fast work of the initial arriving units, the fire was successfully kept to just the dryer and did not spread to the surrounding walls or the home's laundry room.
Multiple units responded to the call, including Engine 9, Ladder 11, Rescue 11, Ladder 4, Engine 10, Safety 1, Safety 2, and Battalion Chiefs 1 and 2.
The scene was cleared after officials confirmed there were no hotspots. No injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
