LA VERGNE, Tenn. — Fire crews quickly contained a fire at the Tennessee Farmers Co-Op facility in La Vergne after employees reported smoke coming from the grain structure. The incident occured on Thursday and the La Vergne Fire Department responded within minutes of receiving the call. Upon arrival, firefighters observed smoke coming from one of the six-story towers that are part of the facility’s grain silo system.
According to officials, the fire was located in a hopper in the basement of the main structure. A total of 17 La Vergne Fire & Rescue personnel responded to the scene, along with command staff. Crews deployed three engines and one truck to combat the blaze. The store sits at 180 Old Nashville Hwy in north Rutherford County.
Mutual aid was provided by the Smyrna Fire Department, with additional logistical support from Box 55. Officers with the La Vergne Police Department assisted with traffic control and scene safety.
Curtis Brinkley served as the on-scene incident commander and reported that crews brought the fire under control within approximately 25 minutes of arrival.

Following suppression efforts, firefighters remained on scene to check for potential fire extension. That process included climbing exterior tower ladders to ensure the fire had not traveled vertically through the structure.
“This is a great example of our pre-fire planning process,” said Fire Chief Ronny Beasley. “We are familiar with the building, its operations, and the management team. This allowed us to know exactly where and how to approach the fire in an efficient and safe manner.”
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire has not been released.
