UPDATE: MURFREESBORO, TN - A 37-year-old man accused of breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s home and assaulting both her and her child in 2024 has since been convicted and sentenced in a Rutherford County courtroom, according to court records... That was Rutherford County District Attorney General Jennings Jones.

Since the date of the crime, the case against Demarcus McClinton progressed through the court system, culminating in a conviction following a jury trial last year. He was subsequently sentenced by James Turner...

Court records indicate that McClinton must serve at least 45% of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole on the aggravated assault and burglary convictions. However, for the single count of child abuse or neglect involving a child age 8 or younger, 100% of the sentence must be served, meaning he is not eligible for parole on that charge until the sentence is fully completed.

McClinton is being held in the Bledsoe County Correctional Complex under the Tennessee Department of Corrections.
