MURFREESBORO, TN (WGNS News) - A two-vehicle crash Tuesday (1/20/2026) morning occured near one of Murfreesboro’s busiest intersections when two vehicles slid off Medical Center Parkway and came to rest in a large empty stormwater retention pond between several businesses at the corner of Memorial Blvd.
According to Murfreesboro Police PIO Larry Flowers the driver of a Honda was pulling out of Doggie’s Day Out (427 Medical Center Parkway) and was struck by a Saturn Ion. The impact pushed both vehicles across the roadway, over the sidewalk and down into the empty basin that sits beside the intersection, a structure designed to hold stormwater during heavy rains but dry on most days.
A large number of motorists slowly passed the accident scene and wondered about the first responders and two wrecked cars that were in the grassy basin.
Thankfully, no injuries resulted from the crash.
Police cleared the scene quickly, and traffic continued moving through the intersection without major delays.
