MIDDLE TENNESSEE — Rutherford County was among the communities benefiting from United Communications’ expanded community engagement in 2025, with support reaching local nonprofits, youth organizations, and public events. The county’s impact reflects a wider regional effort spanning 11 Middle Tennessee counties.
The regionally based fiber internet provider supported a wide range of community efforts throughout the year, from school athletics, marching bands, and technology clubs to large-scale festivals, charitable fundraisers, and leadership development programs. Company leaders say the investments reflect United’s longstanding commitment to the communities where its employees and customers live and work.
“United Communications was founded right here in Middle Tennessee, so giving back isn’t just something we do—it’s in our DNA as a local company,” said William Bradford, president and CEO of United Communications. “Every sponsorship, every donation, and every community partnership is part of our promise to support the places our employees and customers call home.”
In 2025, United partnered with chambers of commerce, economic development organizations, and leadership programs to help strengthen the region’s business ecosystem, including support for Rutherford Cable, Leadership Bedford, and Williamson Inc. Beyond financial contributions, United employees also served on boards and committees throughout Middle Tennessee, helping guide local organizations focused on growth and community development.
Education and youth initiatives were a major focus of United’s giving this year. The company provided direct financial support to dozens of athletic teams, after-school learning programs, and mentoring organizations. Highlights included $40,000 in scholarships awarded to local high school graduates and $15,000 in education grants benefiting schools and youth programs across the service area.
United’s philanthropic reach also extended to many of Middle Tennessee’s cornerstone charitable organizations. In 2025, the company supported initiatives such as the Salvation Army’s Beyond the Bells program, the Child Advocacy Center’s Light Up the Night event, the Red Cross Heroes Luncheon, and community events including the Wings of Freedom Fish Fry in Smyrna and the Hometown Heroes Walk in Murfreesboro.
Support for first responders and frontline workers remained a priority as well. United invested in Law Enforcement Appreciation Day events, local Rotary fundraisers, and programs benefiting police, fire, and emergency personnel across the region.
As of November 2025, United Communications provides free fiber internet service to 16 volunteer fire departments and first responder organizations in Middle Tennessee. The company also delivers ultra-fast 8 Gig connections to the Boys & Girls Club of Bedford County in Shelbyville and the Boys & Girls Club of Rutherford County in Smyrna, along with free public Wi-Fi networks in the historic town squares of Franklin, Lewisburg, Petersburg, and Shelbyville.
While continuing to expand its 8 Gig Premier residential internet service, United says community investment will remain a core focus moving forward.
