RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN - On the WGNS Action Line, host Scott Walker talks with Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officers Sgt. Dustin Cox and SRO Sam Trubee to discuss the impact of this year’s Shop with the Sheriff fundraiser. The event, held earlier this month on Dec. 2 at all Toot’s locations in Murfreesboro, helped make Christmas brighter for local children.

Days after the fundraiser, SROs from elementary schools across Rutherford County took approximately 40 children—through fifth grade—Christmas shopping. Cox and Trubee share heartfelt stories of students not only shopping for themselves, but also choosing gifts for siblings and family members. The conversation also highlights Toot’s long-standing community partnership and its commitment to hosting the event again in 2026.

The interview wraps up with a preview of what’s next: the SRO Division’s first pickleball fundraiser, set for January 17, 2026 at Boro Pickleball, which will raise funds for new back-to-school clothing for middle and high school students in need.
