MURFREESBORO, TN — A simple act of kindness is helping ensure neighbors across Rutherford County stay warm this winter, as community members continue to donate new and gently used coats to Barnabas Vision, a local nonprofit dedicated to serving individuals and families in need.
The organization recently launched its annual winter coat giveaway last month, distributing donated cold-weather gear to those who may not be able to afford it. The effort has become a seasonal tradition, reflecting both the generosity of local residents and Barnabas Vision’s long-standing mission of meeting practical needs with compassion.
The next coat giveaway is scheduled for Monday, December 22, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Barnabas Vision office, located at 141 MTCS Road in Murfreesboro. Organizers say a wide selection of coats are available, including adult men’s and women’s sizes, as well as children’s coats for boys and girls. Anyone facing financial hardship and in need of a warm coat is encouraged to attend and receive one at no cost.
Founded in 2011 by David Coggin and Maria Coggin, Barnabas Vision has built its reputation on consistent community outreach and support. Each year, volunteers work to gather a diverse inventory of coats to ensure people of all ages and sizes are served.
Those who wish to support the initiative can drop off gently used winter coats directly at the Barnabas Vision offices. As temperatures fall, the ongoing coat drive stands as a reminder of the impact collective generosity can have—one coat, and one neighbor, at a time.
