La VERGNE, TN - On December 14, 2025 the La Vergne Police Department opened its doors and its heart, hosting the annualLa Vergne Police Bring Christmas Hope with the support of the Fire Department, Parks and Recreation, and a devoted team of volunteers. Together, they welcomed 62 families and made sure 165 children would wake up to gifts that remind them they are seen, valued, and loved.
The Toy Store is more than a place to pick out presents—it’s a space where parents can choose gifts in a warm, dignified environment, free from worry or judgment. It’s about restoring joy and easing burdens during a season that can feel heavy for families in need. And the generosity didn’t stop at the event. Remaining toys were donated to a local women’s shelter, extending comfort and hope to even more households.
“This event reflects the heart of our community,” said Amber Hakanson, Executive Assistant to the Chief of Police and organizer of the Toy Store. “It’s about neighbors helping neighbors and making sure our children feel supported during the holidays.”
That heart was evident in the countless acts of kindness that made the Toy Store possible. Local businesses, churches, and residents gave their time, food, funds, and gifts. Support flowed in from Grace Church Assembly of God, Life of Victory Ministries, Coca-Cola, Motorola, BJ’s, Sonic, Parthenon Tube, Front Street Sign Company, and Inframark, along with private citizens who simply wanted to help.
