PART 1 OF OUR LIBRARY PODCAST: On this episode of WGNS Action Line, host Scott Walker is joined by guests from the Rutherford County Library System to highlight a full slate of family-friendly events happening this weekend and looking ahead into the new year across Murfreesboro, Smyrna, and Eagleville.
Katie Turner, Youth Services Coordinator, shares details on upcoming children’s and family programming, including Linebaugh Library’s Polar Express Storytime taking place Saturday, December 20, and the always-popular Blastoff to Noon Party scheduled for December 31, giving families a fun, countdown-style celebration without staying up until midnight. Turner also previews the Winter Reading Program, which kicks off in January and encourages readers of all ages to stay engaged during the colder months.
Mike Cleaves, Bookmobile Coordinator, discusses where residents can spot the Rutherford County Bookmobile in the community. The Bookmobile recently participated in holiday parades in Smyrna, Eagleville, and Murfreesboro, and will be at the new Lane Agri Park Winter Farmers Market on Friday, December 19, from 8:00 a.m. to noon, with Santa visiting from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. Cleaves also notes the Bookmobile will be closed for winter break from December 22 through January 2.
The conversation wraps up with information for schools, civic groups, and organizations interested in booking the Bookmobile in the new year. Cleaves explains that availability remains open along daily routes and for special community events. This episode is a helpful guide for families looking to stay connected, entertained, and engaged through the Rutherford County Library System this holiday season and beyond.
