MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Cannonsburgh Village has been transformed into a glowing holiday destination called, “A Charming Christmas at Cannonsburgh.” Families are invited to attend over three festive weekends in December, beginning Friday, December 5, 2025. The historic setting will offer special extended evening hours on select Fridays and Saturdays, allowing visitors to experience the village under magical holiday lights and with reenactors from the 1800s.
Area children are also invited to take part in a beloved seasonal tradition by writing letters to Santa Claus, which can be dropped off at the Cannonsburgh General Store off Front Street near the downtown Murfreesboro Square…
Rachel Singer, Assistant Parks and Recreation Director, said this year’s celebration will bring the historic village to life over three holiday-themed weekends, with all programming geared toward families and seasonal tradition… Visitors will have the opportunity to step back in time and experience the small village atmosphere that reflects Murfreesboro’s early history.
Extended holiday hours will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on December 5–6, 12–13, and 19–20. During these evening events, guests can stroll through candle-lit rooms decorated with rustic holiday décor, offering a nostalgic glimpse into Christmas celebrations of decades past. The village will come alive with carolers, live musical performances, holiday crafts, demonstrations, letters to Santa, and appearances by special guests, all set within the beautifully illuminated historic grounds.
In addition to the ongoing weekend events, this Saturday, December 6, 2025 has been earmarked as "The Christmas at Cannonsburgh and Holiday Market." The market will will take place this Saturday between 4 PM and 8 PM.
Admission during the evening events will be $5 per person, with children ages 5 and under admitted free. Tickets can be purchased in advance (Tickets Here). In addition to the special ticketed evenings, regular free daytime admission will continue Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., which includes access to the decorated village buildings along with special pop-up craft times and holiday activities.
Cannonsburgh Village is a six-acre living history village that represents nearly 100 years of rural Tennessee life from the 1830s to the 1930s. The site features relocated historic buildings including a gristmill, schoolhouse, and general store, making it a perfect backdrop for a nostalgic holiday experience.
