LA VERGNE, Tenn. — The City of La Vergne is alerting residents, business owners, and community partners to be cautious of fraudulent emails that falsely claim to be from the City and request payments.

Officials say a recent phishing email appeared to come from a legitimate City of La Vergne address and included instructions or links for submitting money. The email looked authentic, but city leaders stress that La Vergne does not request or process payments through unsolicited email communications.

Residents are urged not to click links, open attachments, or reply to any suspicious messages requesting payment or personal information. Anyone who receives such an email should verify its legitimacy by contacting the City directly at (615) 793-6295.

“Our community’s safety extends beyond physical security. It includes protecting residents and businesses from possible online threats that we are aware of,” said Bruce Richardson, City Administrator. “This appears to be a phishing email, but we want to make sure everyone double-checks any communication before sending money or personal information.”

City officials encourage anyone who suspects fraudulent activity to reach out immediately to City Hall or visit the City’s official website at www.lavergnetn.gov for verified information and updates.

Phishing scams can often look convincing, using official logos, names, or addresses. The City reminds the public that legitimate government departments will never ask for payment or confidential details through unexpected email messages.
