MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — There’s good news in a case that has kept Murfreesboro residents concerned for weeks. The search for missing teenager Cecilia Sarmadi has come to an end. According to Murfreesboro Police Public Information Officer Larry Flowers, “Missing Teen BOLO Canceled! Cecilia Sarmadi has been safely located.”
The announcement comes after Sarmadi, 17, had been missing for more than 60 days.
Earlier this month, Murfreesboro Police asked for the public’s help in locating the teen, who was last seen on the morning of Friday, August 19, 2025. According to investigators, her father reported seeing her outside their home waiting for her school bus before she disappeared. When Sarmadi did not board the bus and later failed to attend school, her father contacted authorities.
Because of her age, police have released limited information about the circumstances of her disappearance.
In the initial report, officials noted that Cecilia left her cell phone at home the morning she went missing — a detail that sparked significant speculation on social media, as many commenters found it unusual for a teenager to go anywhere without a phone. Some online discussions questioned whether her disappearance might have been voluntary.
After confirming she was not present at school that day, investigators entered Cecilia’s case into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database as part of an active missing person investigation.
Although Cecilia has now been found safe, detectives continue to gather details about her two-month absence. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Detective Smith at 629-335-0560.
