Murfreesboro, TN - It was a tense and fiery scene on I-840 Tuesday night (10/20/2025) near Exit 55 (Highway 41-70), when a two-car crash left one vehicle engulfed in flames. Eastbound traffic (toward Lebanon) was detoured off the interstate. Murfreesboro Fire-Rescue crews rushed in to battle the blaze. Thankfully, occupants from both vehicles managed to escape. Paramedics from Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services treated them on-site, offering immediate care and reassurance in the aftermath of the crash.

Firefighters wasted no time extinguishing the flames, but both vehicles were heavily damaged.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is now piecing together evidence. Troopers spoke with those involved as well as witnesses, took measurements, and used digital tools to collect data that may shed light on the cause.

This incident brought together a full team of local responders—Murfreesboro Fire-Rescue, Rutherford County EMS, the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol—all working in sync to protect and serve. Their swift coordination not only contained the danger but reminded residents of the strength and dedication behind the emergency response network here in Rutherford County.
