Dr. David Geckle Joins TriStar StoneCrest as Assistant Chief Medical Officer

Smyrna, TN - Dr. David S. Geckle, MD, FACS, is the new assistant chief medical officer at TriStar StoneCrest Medical Center in Smyrna, effective this Sunday, June 29, 2025. Dr. Geckle brings nearly three decades of clinical and leadership expertise within HCA Healthcare to serve the growing healthcare needs of the Rutherford County community.

TriStar StoneCrest's CEO Lou Caputo said, “Welcoming Dr. Geckle to our leadership team is an exciting step forward. His dedication to clinical excellence and his strong leadership background will support our ongoing mission to deliver top-quality, patient-centered care right here in Smyrna and the surrounding area.”

Before relocating to Middle Tennessee, Dr. Geckle served as a neurosurgeon at HCA-affiliated hospitals in Richmond, Virginia, including Chippenham Hospital and Johnston-Willis Hospital. In addition to his surgical practice, he championed key initiatives in patient safety, quality improvement, and medical staff development.

Certified in neurological surgery, Dr. Geckle has held numerous leadership positions over the years, including chief of medical staff and chair of several high-level committees, earning a reputation for excellence in medical governance.

Dr. Geckle received his undergraduate degree in chemistry from Loyola College in Baltimore and his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He completed his residency in neurosurgery at Case Western Reserve University.
