MURFREESBORO, TN — A Nashville man with a history of sexual offense convictions is now facing 23 new charges, including 11 counts of Rape of a Child, following an extensive investigation by Murfreesboro Police. The suspect, 45-year-old Jason Laron Thomas, is scheduled to appear in Circuit Court this Friday for a plea hearing before Judge Barry Tidwell.

The offenses stem from an incident reportedly committed on or about the date of May 1, 2023, and include:

Another incident that unfolded seven months later—just three days before Christmas in 2023—led to a single charge of Theft of Property, valued between $2,500 and $10,000, being filed against Thomas. That charge is also scheduled to be heard in the same courtroom, possibly on the same upcoming date.

Thomas, who works at a furniture store in the Cool Springs area of Williamson County, is currently being represented by a public defender. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Hugh Ammerman. Currently, the suspect is beind bars in Rutherford County.

Court records indicate that Thomas was previously convicted of rape in Nashville in 2014. That conviction stemmed from a 2008 New Year’s Day offense. He has been on active supervised probation through the Murfreesboro Probation and Parole Office since that conviction.

Between 2008 and today, Thomas has faced a staggering 37 criminal charges in various Tennessee courts, ranging from sexual offenses to probation violations. Of those charges, he has pleaded guilty at least eight times, and nine charges were dismissed.

In addition to his primary Nashville residence, Thomas lists a secondary address in Murfreesboro, located at an apartment complex on Empress Drive.

His upcoming plea hearing set for this Friday morning at 9 AM - - could significantly shape the outcome of the case and dramatically change his future. Given the nature and volume of the charges, the case is being closely watched by both the public and legal community in Middle Tennessee. However, law enforcement are remaining tight lipped about the charges as they reportedly involve a minor or minors.
