Jun 22, 2025 at 05:33 pm by WGNS

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) — Rutherford County PAWS has named a friendly, four-legged resident as its June “Pet of the Month.” Meet Margo — a one-year, three-month-old Pit Bull mix who’s been patiently waiting for her forever home since early March.

Margo (Animal ID: A266020) weighs approximately 50 pounds and is described by staff as affectionate, playful, and full of potential. She’s already spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, and has tested negative for heartworms — making her adoption-ready today.

“Margo has a great personality. She’s active but well-mannered, and would make a fantastic companion,” Sebastian Jordan with PAWS shared.

Margo arrived at the shelter on March 10 and has quickly become a staff favorite. But after more than 100 days in the shelter, she’s more than ready to find a loving home.

🏡 How to Adopt Margo

Rutherford County PAWS, located at 285 John R. Rice Boulevard in Murfreesboro. Adoptions are handled on a first-come, first-served basis.

All adoptions must be completed in person at the shelter, and the process includes an on-site application. Here are the key adoption requirements:

  • Spay/Neuter & Vaccination: All animals adopted from PAWS must be spayed or neutered and vaccinated against rabies. (Margo is already fully vetted.)

  • Rental Verification: Renters must provide written proof that pets are allowed at their residence.

  • Veterinary Records: Adopters must show proof that current pets are up-to-date on rabies vaccinations. PAWS also offers $15 rabies vaccinations on-site.

  • Adoption Fees: Fees for dogs range from $5 to $120, depending on age, size, and breed. The fee includes spay/neuter, parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies shot, deworming, and heartworm testing.

🐶 Why Margo?

Margo is the kind of dog who thrives with human companionship. She would do best in a home where she can get daily activity, continued socialization, and lots of love.

She’s already past the unpredictable puppy stage, but still young enough to grow into your routine. If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a gentle heart and a wagging tail, Margo might be the perfect fit.
