Rutherford County, TN - If you were driving through Rutherford County on Sunday (6/22/2025) and spotted a group of bicyclists escorted by police vehicles, you witnessed a moving tribute in action. The Tennessee Brotherhood Ride made a heartfelt stop in Murfreesboro to honor Rutherford County Sheriff’s Detective Jacob Beu, one of 12 fallen first responders remembered during this year’s memorial journey.
Detective Beu, a U.S. Marine and dedicated law enforcement officer, tragically lost his life in a motorcycle crash on May 7, 2023. His legacy of service in both the patrol and detective divisions was celebrated by more than 20 cyclists and support volunteers from nine states, including Alabama, Kentucky, and Texas.
The Tennessee Brotherhood Ride spans three days and covers 250 miles, with each stop dedicated to a fallen hero in the county where they lived or served. This year’s ride included visits to multiple Tennessee communities, ensuring that each honoree’s memory was kept alive in the places they called home.
During the Rutherford County stop, the cyclists presented a plaque bearing Detective Beu’s name to Sheriff’s Sgt. Robert Horne. The plaque, signed by all riders and support staff, will be displayed at the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, serving as a lasting tribute to Beu’s sacrifice and service.
Firefighter Brianna Leland, who founded the Tennessee Brotherhood Ride, captured the spirit of the event: “There are two deaths that occur... the second time is the last time their name was spoken. We try to keep them alive and in people’s thoughts.”
From the hum of tires on pavement to the quiet moments of remembrance, each mile of the Brotherhood Ride is a promise: they will not be forgotten.
