MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) – Middle Tennessee Christian School (MTCS) has announced the hiring of Addison Alford as the new head coach of its baseball program.
Alford joins the Cougars after a successful four-year stint as an assistant coach at Lipscomb Academy, where he played a key role in helping the Mustangs win the state championship just last week. During his time with the program, Lipscomb Academy made three state tournament appearances, including a state runner-up finish in 2022.
Before his time at Lipscomb, Alford served as the middle school head coach at Christ Presbyterian Academy and has also been active in the travel baseball scene, coaching within the Mavericks organization.
“We are excited to welcome Coach Alford to the MTCS family,” said Jason Piercey, MTCS Athletic Director. “His passion for developing young people is evident, and we are confident he will have a lasting impact both on and off the field. We believe he will do great things, leading our student-athletes to grow not only in their baseball abilities but also in their relationship with Jesus.”
In a statement, Alford shared his gratitude and enthusiasm for the new role:
“I want to thank God, my family, my beautiful fiancée Hannah, the coaches I have surrounded myself with, and MTCS for the opportunity to be the next head baseball coach at MTCS. We are going to bring a gritty and exciting brand of baseball to Murfreesboro.”
Alford is expected to begin his duties immediately as preparations begin for the upcoming season.
