MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Two law enforcement agencies were called to the area of Shelbyville Pike and Tiger Hill early Monday morning after reports of unruly juveniles prompted a search near a wooded area behind Walmart.
The incident unfolded just after midnight on May 26, 2025, when two Murfreesboro Police officers responded to assist the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office with a call involving multiple juveniles reportedly causing a disturbance. The Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system documented the scene with the note: “RAN ACROSS TWDS CHRISTY KNOB WAY,” indicating the group fled into the woods near Joe B. Jackson Parkway and South Church Street (Highway 231 South).
Deputies and officers combed the area between homes and vehicles, as several residents reported seeing at least four police cruisers and three Sheriff’s patrol cars canvassing the neighborhood. Flashlights and spotlight sweeps were visible as law enforcement searched the densely wooded section near the residential backyards.
Despite the swift response, none of the juveniles were located by officers. The search was eventually called off without any arrests or confirmed identifications.
The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the nature of the call but noted that, due to the lack of apprehensions or further developments, no charges or additional reports were filed at this time.
Local residents reached out to WGNS and expressed concern about the presence of law enforcement during the early hours, not knowing what occurred--although many commended the response effort. The investigation remains open should new information come forward.
This was not the first time a suspect ran up Tiger Hill to seek refuge from law enforcement. Over seven years ago, a man accused of stealing a large-screen TV—measuring over 42 inches—fled into the heavily wooded area to hide from pursuing officers. In that case, the man allegedly stole the TV from Walmart, ran up the hill, and managed to elude authorities for days. As it turned out, he only hid on the hill for a few hours before being found at his parents’ residence near the site of the TV heist.
