MURFREESBORO, TN - A silver BMW SUV crashed into the side of a building housing Rivers Dental Care early Wednesday morning in Murfreesboro. The incident occurred in the 6 o’clock hour in the 2900 block of South Church Street, directly across from the Kroger store.
The north end of the impacted building is home to Duncan Donuts, while the SUV collided with the south end near the Goodwill Store, where Rivers Dental Care operates. The vehicle suffered extensive front-end damage, with the radiator dislodged and fluids leaking visibly from the engine bay. The force of the impact left a deep indentation in the vehicle’s hood and bumper, shaped like the squared-off edges of the stone facade on the building’s corner.
Emergency responders found the airbags deployed. Murfreesboro Police marked the final position of the SUV with orange spray paint and navigated through debris, including shattered headlights, strewn across the crash site.
According to Murfreesboro Police Public Information Officer Larry Flowers, “A man, believed to have passed out, crashed his SUV into a dental office on S. Church Street just after 6 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14. Witnesses saw him unresponsive as he crossed S. Church Street from Innsbrooke Drive and hit the building. The driver was taken to the hospital.”
Authorities say the crash is being attributed to a potential medical emergency that caused the driver to lose consciousness. The Murfreesboro Codes Department responded to the site to evaluate any structural damage to the building following the impact.
