RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN - Local attorney Kirk Catron has been arrested on multiple charges following the issuance of a sealed indictment by a Rutherford County Grand Jury. Catron was taken into custody on Thursday, May 8, 2025, by a detective with the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office.

According to court records, Catron faces a total of five charges, including a single count related to Schedule IV drugs under T.C.A. § 39-17-417(e). This charge typically involves the manufacture, delivery, sale, or possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule IV controlled substance. The inclusion of subsection (e) elevates the offense to a Class D felony, based on specific aggravating factors. The alleged violation date is March 4, 2025.

Additionally, Catron is charged with three counts under T.C.A. § 39-16-201(b)(2)(C), all described as involving an "Unlawful Telecommunication Device in Penal Facility." These Class E felonies are commonly linked to the illegal possession or use of communication devices within a penal institution. The offenses are dated March 4, 5, and 6 of 2025, respectively.

Catron also faces a charge for allegedly bringing contraband into a penal institution, specifically an intoxicant or drug—a Class E felony under Tennessee law.

Since the indictment was unsealed, six orders of recusal have been filed, each naming a different judge from Rutherford County. Catron was booked into the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center shortly after 1:00 PM on May 8, and was released on bond 36 minutes later.

Catron is scheduled to appear before Judge James Turner on June 30, 2025, at 9:00 AM, to address all five charges.
