MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) — Detectives with the Murfreesboro Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division Violent Crimes Unit are investigating a suspicious death after a man was found deceased inside a vehicle at a local tow lot.

Officers were called to E.A. Towing on Southpointe Court around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday (May 1st). Tow company employees made the discovery while preparing to place a mechanic’s lien on the vehicle, which had gone unclaimed for nearly a month. The vehicle was originally towed from the Walmart parking lot on Old Fort Parkway on April 5th, after being considered abandoned.

According to police, the man's body was located inside the vehicle during routine checks by towing staff. An autopsy has been requested through the medical examiner's office to determine the cause of death and how long the individual may have been deceased.

The investigation remains active, and further details have not yet been released pending the results of the autopsy.
