MURFREESBORO, TN — A man accused of secretly recording a woman as she changed clothes inside a Murfreesboro clothing store has been identified, according to local authorities. The incident occurred on June 24, 2024, inside a dressing room at Plato’s Closet on North Thompson Lane.

Although the crime took place last summer, the Murfreesboro Police Department (MPD) emphasized that the investigation remains active and ongoing. Detectives have not slowed their efforts in locating the suspect, who has not yet been apprehended.

According to MPD, Detective Smith confirmed the identity of the man after investigators reviewed a photograph of the individual that was collected last year. While a warrant has not yet been issued, authorities are confident in who they are looking for.

MPD Public Information Officer Larry Flowers told WGNS News, “Detective Smith is still investigating. No warrants have been obtained, yet.”

The crime, which involved allegedly filming or recording a female victim in a private setting without her consent, has deeply impacted not only the victim but also community members who expect privacy in such vulnerable situations. Police stress that violations of personal privacy are taken very seriously.

This type of case—where someone is targeted in a place they should feel completely safe—leaves lasting emotional scars. The fact that it happened in a public retail setting only amplifies the concern among citizens.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts to contact Murfreesboro Police. WGNS will continue to follow this developing story.
