MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) – Despite rainy weather, over 250 passionate community members gathered for the 10th Annual Hometown Heroes Walk for Children on Friday, April 25, to show unwavering support for child abuse victims. The enthusiastic walkers followed the route from Civic Plaza to Oakland’s Pavilion, where the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office provided a delicious lunch. Walkers enjoyed bottled water courtesy of sponsors and explored information booths hosted by organizations such as Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA), A Step Ahead, and Head Start.
Faithful sponsors, including Ascend Federal Credit Union, BlueCross BlueShield, and Wilson Bank and Trust, made the free event possible. Notably, the Golden Sneakers Award for the largest group participation went to the Head Start team, with 75 children joining the walk.
