MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — April 25, 2025 — United Way of South Central Tennessee officially launched its Volunteer Days initiative Friday morning with a community breakfast and kickoff event at the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce, located at 3050 Medical Center Parkway.
The early-morning event brought together community members, nonprofit partners, and local leaders to celebrate the spirit of service and mark the beginning of a two-day volunteer initiative across seven counties. Volunteers gathered at 8:00 AM to enjoy breakfast, connect with one another, and hear inspirational remarks from United Way leadership about the power of giving back.
Volunteer Days, presented by Volunteer Bank, is held in conjunction with National Volunteer Week (April 20–26) and takes place Friday, April 25, and Saturday, April 26. The initiative aims to connect passionate volunteers with meaningful service projects to strengthen local communities.
“Volunteerism is something that we are extremely excited about here at Volunteer Bank. It’s not just our name – it’s who we are,” said Chad Hill, Market President of Volunteer Bank. “You don’t know what kind of impact that you might have on someone that you will never know. You could do the smallest thing with an hour or two hours of your day that someone will never forget.”
Approximately 100 volunteers are expected to participate across Bedford, Cannon, Coffee, Lincoln, Moore, Rutherford, and Warren counties. Projects range from landscaping and maintenance to assisting with youth carnivals and senior center activities such as themed “prom” events.
Volunteers are supporting a wide variety of local nonprofits, including Archie’s Promise, The Journey Home, Prevention Coalition for Success, The Family Center, The Salvation Army, Stepping Stones Safe Haven, Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Center, Silly Kids Yoga, Doors of Hope, Simon Springs Community School, Kymari House, and Thriving Together TN.
