MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) - A substitute teacher at Siegel Middle School was charged with public intoxication Wednesday after school officials raised concerns about her behavior, according to the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office.
Deborah Gentry, who was serving as a substitute, was suspected to be under the influence of prescription medication while on campus, said School Resource Officer Austin Wortman.
Rutherford County Schools has since notified parents about the situation to maintain transparency and assure the community of student safety.
Record information from the Sheriff’s Office show that Gentry was released from custody at around 7pm on Wednesday.
