MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WGNS) - Middle Tennessee Christian School is proud to announce the hiring of Chris Lawson as the new head boys basketball coach and assistant athletic director.

During his tenure at Cascade, Coach Lawson was named District Coach of the Year three times. His teams captured three regular season district championships, two district tournament titles, and made two sectional appearances—hallmarks of a successful and disciplined program.

A former collegiate athlete, Lawson played basketball at Lindsey Wilson College and Martin Methodist, experiences that have shaped his approach to coaching and leadership.

MTCS Athletic Director Jason Piercey shared his enthusiasm about the new addition to the athletics department. “We are thrilled for Coach Lawson and his family to join the Cougar family,” Piercey said. “We know he will do great things not only on the court but will also lead our student-athletes to a closer relationship with Jesus.”

Coach Lawson echoed that excitement in a statement, saying, “I am honored to join the MTCS community and grateful for this opportunity. My family and I are excited to be part of such a welcoming environment. I look forward to meeting the players and fostering an atmosphere of respect, trust, growth, and teamwork. Our goal is to build a team that competes at a high level while exemplifying sportsmanship and integrity. Thank you for your warm welcome; I am eager to embark on this journey!”
