MURFREESBORO — Sheriff’s deputies who regularly respond to mental health and crisis calls will roll up their sleeves and lace up their bowling shoes next month to support a cause close to their hearts: preventing suicide among teens and young adults.
The Jacob Strong 615 Foundation will host a Bowling Fundraiser on May 6–7 at 6:30 p.m. at the LTA Depot in Murfreesboro. The event will include a silent auction and raffle, with all proceeds going toward suicide prevention efforts in Rutherford County and beyond.
“Jacob Strong 615 is a non-profit organization promoting prevention of teen and young adult suicides,” said Deputy Michael Romans of the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office. “Many of us have responded to these tragic calls, and supporting this cause is one small way we can help make a difference.”
The foundation was established in memory of Jacob, a local teen remembered for his deep compassion, intelligence, and his unique ability to make others feel seen and understood. Following Jacob’s tragic death by suicide, his family created Jacob Strong 615 to honor his legacy and to provide education, resources, and hope to those facing mental health challenges.
Four-person bowling teams are invited to compete for a $500 cash prize each night, with a $200 team entry fee. All skill levels are welcome, and community support is strongly encouraged.
Jacob Strong 615 not only raises awareness but also partners with schools, first responders, and mental health professionals to build stronger safety nets for young people in crisis.
