LA VERGNE - Saks Global Tennessee Fulfillment Center will begin a permanent closure of its facility at 1 Walden Books Drive starting June 4, 2025, according to a WARN notice filed with the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development. All 446 employees at the facility will be laid off, with the final separations expected to be completed by November 30, 2025.
The announcement was made official on April 17, 2025, when Saks submitted the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) letter to state officials. The closure is part of a broader downsizing, and no collective bargaining agreements are in place for the affected workers.
The Northern Middle Local Workforce Development Area (LWDA) rapid response team, coordinated by Workforce Essentials, has been activated to support the impacted employees. The LWDA will provide guidance and resources to help workers navigate unemployment, retraining opportunities, and job placement services.
The Saks closure comes on the heels of Bridgestone’s January announcement that it will shutter its La Vergne tire plant by July, a move expected to eliminate 700 jobs.
Local and state officials, including Tennessee state commissioners, members of Congress, and area mayors, were also notified as part of the state’s coordinated response efforts.
