MADISON, TN – U.S. Marshal’s Service Task Force agents have apprehended 54-year-old Candido Raul Rubio-Perez, who is now in custody for the fatal stabbing of his estranged wife, Niurka Alfonso-Acevedo, 52. The arrest took place Monday at an apartment complex on Berkley Drive. Rubio-Perez was booked shortly after his capture on an outstanding criminal homicide warrant.

Earlier in the day, an arrest warrant had been issued for Rubio-Perez in connection with the deadly incident, which unfolded just outside Chadwell Elementary School. The attack is believed to have been domestic violence-related and occurred before students arrived on campus. Alfonso-Acevedo, who had been employed as a custodian at Chadwell since the fall, was found lying unresponsive in the school parking lot by a staff member arriving for work at approximately 6 a.m.
