MURFREESBORO, TN — A teenager recently arrested by Metro Nashville authorities is now facing multiple charges in connection with a series of car break-ins that occurred earlier this year in Murfreesboro. The Murfreesboro Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division (CID) has obtained 34 juvenile petition warrants for the teen, linking him to the February 9 crime spree near Medical Center Parkway.

That morning, between the hours of 3 a.m. and 5 a.m., 39 vehicles were broken into across three hotels and an apartment complex in the Conference Center Boulevard area. Police reported windows were smashed and personal belongings were stolen, including five firearms. Two of the vehicles were reported stolen and later found wrecked and abandoned. Surveillance footage captured three individuals in dark clothing and hoodies, seen driving a white Nissan Maxima with a temporary tag.

While the recent arrest marks a significant development, Murfreesboro detectives say the investigation is far from over. Officers are now responding to a fresh wave of motor vehicle burglaries across the city. These incidents have been reported at hotels, apartment complexes, and in residential neighborhoods.

Police are warning the public not to approach or confront the suspects, who are known to be armed. “Never take matters into your own hands,” said CID Sergeant Tommy Massey. “Do not put your life in danger trying to protect personal property.”

Surveillance cameras have recently captured additional break-ins in mid and late March. In those videos, the suspects wore gloves and masks. “The burglars are mainly looking for firearms,” Massey said. “They have left other high-dollar items behind.” Investigators say the suspects often check for unlocked doors or break windows and sunroofs to bypass car alarm systems.

Murfreesboro police are working closely with law enforcement agencies in Nashville, Montgomery County, and Williamson County, all of which have experienced similar break-ins.

“With this joint effort, we are hoping to apprehend those responsible for these crimes and bring them to justice,” Massey added.

Residents are encouraged to stay alert, report suspicious activity, lock their car doors, and remove all valuables from view. Scroll down to see the video footage that was captured on Feb. 9, 2025. The video shows the break-ins as they were unfolding.
