MURFREESBORO, TN – The Murfreesboro Sports Authority is set to convene next week to further refine its approach to marketing and sponsorship funding for city-operated sports venues and events. The meeting will focus on revenue generation strategies that will help sustain and enhance local athletic facilities through corporate sponsorships.

During a previous session, the Sports Authority Board voted to enlist Donegal Associates to spearhead sponsorship sales. The decision was based on several factors, including the firm's approach to project management, communication style, and cost structure. Moving forward, it appears that Donegal Associates will represent the Sports Authority in securing sponsorship deals that will help contribute to the financial stability of Murfreesboro’s sports venues. The board also approved a $250,000 budget to support the initiative.

According to city officials, the Sports Authority’s primary mission is to generate additional funding for sports facilities, aiding in operational costs, renovations, and potential expansions. Working alongside the Murfreesboro Parks & Recreation Department, the board will explore sponsorship agreements and other revenue streams to support local sports programs.

The upcoming meeting, scheduled for Tuesday, will see the seven-member board review previous meeting minutes before delving into the specifics of its marketing and sponsorship efforts. Discussions will include setting advertising guidelines to ensure that corporate partnerships align with community values—particularly given that many sporting events cater to children and families.

The Murfreesboro Sports Authority was established in April 2024 (Resolution 24-R-06) to supplement city revenue while promoting sports, fitness, and wellness. Sponsorship opportunities could be everything from outfield grass logos at baseball fields to business banners on fences surrounding athletic parks. Other possibilities could include sponsored entry tickets featuring company logos and promotional offers to pop-up ads on the parks website when signing a child up for youth sports. The possibilities are endless at this point as little has been released on how sponsorship programs will be shaped.

Before these programs become a reality, the board must finalize regulations regarding the types of advertising and branding permitted at city facilities. These guidelines will be based on previously discussed ordinances, ensuring sponsorships remain tasteful and appropriate for all audiences. The upcoming meeting is expected to provide further clarity on some of these ideas as the Sports Authority moves toward implementing its sponsorship initiatives.

Upcoming Meeting: The Murfreesboro Sports Authority will meet Tuesday, March. 25, 2025, at 4:00 p.m., at the Municipal Airport Business Center Community Room, 1930 Memorial Blvd. in Murfreesboro.
