MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Shawn Boyd, a Middle Tennessee State University alumnus with a gift for helping people discover practical tools to achieve academic and personal goals, will return to his alma mater soon to empower students with strategies to become their best selves during their academic journeys.
Sponsored by the MTSU Office of Student Success, Boyd, who is with Educational Solutions LLC and one of the most sought-after motivational speakers in the country, will bring “Goal Setting for College … The Things I Wish I Knew” to campus at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, at Tucker Theatre inside the Boutwell Dra matic Arts Building, 615 Champion Way.
The event is free. It is a wrap-up to a semester featuring Office of Student Success special sessions on time management, academic support and tutoring.
“It’s our signature event for the spring semester, with students being our target audience,” said Michelle Arnold, associate vice provost for Student Success.
The scheduled one-hour session will teach effective goal-setting techniques that support academic success and personal growth, Arnold said, adding Boyd will provide students with practical tools to set, track and achieve short- and long-term goals.

Parking/traffic notice: Student attendees and others driving into campus for the event should be aware that Faulkinberry Drive campus entrance, from Middle Tennessee Boulevard to Champion Way, will be closed because of the TSSAA Division I High School Basketball Tournament (boys), so plan accordingly when seeking available parking.
