MURFREESBORO, TN — Murfreesboro Police detectives are investigating a brazen burglary at The Laboratory Smoke Shop, located on the Downtown Public Square, and are turning to the public for assistance in identifying the culprit. Police have released videos that were captured inside the store on the morning of the break-in (scroll down).
Reports from the MPD show the incident occurred around 4:30AM on Sunday morning, March 2, 2025. Evidently, the unidentified individual shattered the store's window by hurling a rock through the glass. Surveillance footage from inside the business captured the crime in action.
After looking to his right and left to ensure no one was around, you can see the suspect - simply labeled as John Doe, throw a rock through the window and then jump inside. The bandit can be seen briefly looking at the retail goods in the display cabinets before heading into the store's office. There, he fumbled around with his cellphone, turned on the flashlight app, rummaged around the desk in the office, and then left with a sack filled with goods.
The burglar made off with an undisclosed amount of merchandise, including THCP vape pens, blunt wraps, and a cash box containing money. Authorities believe the suspect may have been driving a silver mid-size SUV. Scroll down for video.
