Rutherford County's own Mattie Pruitt is set to showcase her talents on the upcoming season of "American Idol," premiering Sunday, March 9th on ABC. At just 15, Mattie blends soulful country with modern rock influences, drawing inspiration from artists like Chris Stapleton, Teddy Swims, and Jessie Murph.
Mattie's musical journey began in Rutherford County, attending Barfield Elementary, Rockvale Elementary, and Christiana Middle School before her family relocated to Eagleville. Her parents, Eleanora and Justin Pruitt, have been vocal about their pride and excitement. Eleanora shared on social media, "She just launched her official music page! She’ll be sharing behind-the-scenes moments, music, and, of course, updates on her Idol journey." Justin added, "From the time she could talk, Mattie Pruitt has been singing. Watching her grow into the young woman she is today—so devoted to her craft, so passionate about her music—has been one of the greatest blessings God has given me."
This season of "American Idol" brings notable changes, including the return of Carrie Underwood as a judge, joining Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie. Underwood, who won Season 4 in 2005.
