NASHVILLE, TN - For those who recently enjoyed a night out in downtown Nashville, an unsettling incident serves as a crucial reminder to remain vigilant and aware of one’s surroundings—even during seemingly routine and personal moments like a restroom visit.
This past Friday night (02/21/25) at the Hard Rock Café located at 1000 Broadway, 34-year-old James Josey III, a repeat convicted sex offender, was arrested for allegedly recording a 16-year-old girl inside a women’s restroom stall.
Witnesses confronted Josey after discovering him operating a camera in the restroom. He was detained until law enforcement arrived. In an interview with police, he admitted to filming in women’s restrooms for his own sexual gratification. Consequently, he now faces charges of invasion of privacy and disorderly conduct.
This is not the first encounter Josey has had with law enforcement regarding invocations of privacy. In April 2022, he was charged with similar offenses after using his cell phone to record female victims aged 2, 5, 9, and 34 in the women’s restroom at a Whataburger restaurant in Hermitage. Due to the minor ages of his victims—particularly those under 13—he was convicted of a misdemeanor and received a sentence of 11 months and 29 days.
Josey has a history of similar offenses in Knoxville and has been registered as a sex offender since 2015, emphasizing a troubling pattern of behavior that raises serious public safety concerns.
As Nashville continues to grow as a vibrant destination for entertainment and nightlife, incidents like these serve as reminders for patrons to stay alert and prioritize safety in public spaces. The community is urged to report any suspicious activities to authorities promptly in order to help protect the well-being of all citizens and visitors.
