MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Detectives with the Murfreesboro Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division (CID) are currently investigating a series of vehicle break-ins at several hotels in the vicinity of Medical Center Parkway and I-24. The incidents occurred on Sunday, February 9, and reports indicate that two vehicles were also reported stolen in the same area within a similar timeframe. MPD confirmed the break-ins on Monday (Feb. 10, 2025) and reported that a total of 39 vehicles were burglarized across three different hotels and one apartment complex between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m.

Seven vehicles in the parking lot of the Vintage at the Avenue apartment complex, located at the intersection of Conference Center Boulevard and Greshampark Drive, were broken into, along with nine cars at the Courtyard by Marriott on Greshampark Drive, and seven vehicles at the Hilton Garden Inn on Conference Center Boulevard. A staggering 16 break-ins were reported at the Embassy Suites Hotel in the same area, all occurring on Sunday. The unknown suspects broke the windows of the vehicles in what some are calling smash-and-grab burglaries, making off with a multitude of personal items, including five firearms that were left unattended in the vehicles.

In addition to the break-ins, two stolen vehicles were reported: a 2013 Hyundai Sonata and a 2016 Toyota 4Runner. Both the sedan and the SUV were later found wrecked and still running near the locations from which they were originally taken.

Surveillance video captured three individuals dressed in dark clothing and hoodies in the parking lots of two hotels. Detectives believe the suspects were driving a white Nissan Maxima with a black roof, which had a temporary tag, leaving police with little information to pursue.

Criminal Investigations Division Detective Aaron Gonzalez stated, “We urge everyone to be aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious activity immediately.” He added, “Our department is committed to finding those responsible and ensuring the safety of our community.”

As a response to the break-ins, MPD officers are increasing patrols in the area and advising residents and visitors to remain vigilant, secure their vehicles, and avoid leaving valuables inside. It is also advisable to park in well-lit areas whenever possible.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to review any personal security video that could assist with the investigation. Anyone with information regarding the break-ins is asked to contact Detective Gonzalez at 629-201-5638.

Break-in Locations:
