WILSON COUNTY, TN - A man and a woman from California were apprehended in Wilson County after law enforcement discovered numerous pieces of mail from local residents in multiple cities. The arrests occurred following a vigilant observation of a Range Rover Sport parked outside the Avid Hotel in Lebanon, located on South Hartman Drive between the I-840 and Highway 231 interchanges off I-40. Authorities quickly identified the SUV as having been previously reported stolen in Missouri.
Lebanon Police began their investigation by speaking with front desk workers at the hotel and delving deeper into the identity of the SUV’s driver. This led them to locate and detain a 29-year-old male and a 34-year-old female, who were found to be operating the stolen vehicle. Police also confirm the female had an outstanding warrant for her arrest in California.
Upon further inspection, police discovered hundreds of pieces of stolen mail emanating from both the Middle Tennessee area and other regions outside the state. Additionally, investigators recovered materials used to manufacture fraudulent IDs and credit cards, as well as actual stolen credit cards.
Police confirmed in a release that the two individuals were arrested on several criminal charges. Additionally, there may be more charges to come as the case remains an active and ongoing investigation. Charges could also arise from a federal agency now involved in the case, due to the recovery of hundreds of pieces of U.S. mail at the time of the arrests.
