MTSU Professor and Director of The Band of Blue Craig Cornish will be retiring after this upcoming school year. While he's not retiring until the end of the spring semester, this Saturday will be his last as the director of the marching band. Cornish was on The Roundtable with Chip Walters and shared some fun memories of his time at MTSU.
Cornish says his first time on the MTSU campus was at a marching band competition when he was a senior at Lafayette High School in 1975. Cornish was a member of the band and they won the competition that day:
Cornish received a scholarship for the University of Kentucky, and was a member of the Wildcat Marching Band in college:
As director, Cornish has put on many great shows such as Boys To Men and Powerful Women. The MTSU Marching Band has taken home many awards as well!
After 22 years at MTSU, Cornish announces that he will be retiring. The director says teachers live for the students, a price tag can’t be placed on the mark a teacher places on a student’s life:
Cornish wants to be remembered as someone who cared and gave his all for his students and the university.
