UPDATED: Murfreesboro, TN – A serious two-vehicle collision took the life of one man on Thursday night, November 7, 2024, around 7:00 p.m. The accident occurred near the WGNS radio tower on South Church Street, between Rushwood Drive and Broad Street—approximately 950 to 1,000 feet north of the U.S. Post Office. The crash forced the closure of South Church Street for several hours as authorities investigated.
In a statement, the Murfreesboro Police Department (MPD) reported, “One male confirmed dead in two car crash. No other injuries reported.” Initially, police reported that three individuals had been transported to the hospital; however, this was later clarified to confirm that no additional injuries occurred, aside from the fatality.
The Murfreesboro Police Fatal Accident Crash Team (FACT) quickly arrived on the scene to measure, collect evidence, take photographs, and interview witnesses. One of the involved vehicles, a Jeep Wrangler, had rolled onto its side and slid into the parking lot of Arcus Restoration. Responders from Murfreesboro Fire-Rescue deployed tools, including the jaws of life, to extricate the individuals inside the Jeep.
Weather conditions at the time reportedly included a light mist and fog, potentially affecting visibility along the road. The crash led to the temporary closure of all lanes on South Church Street between Rushwood Drive and Broad Street, creating significant traffic disruptions throughout the evening as police continued their investigation.
