MURFREESBORO, TN - Main Street Murfreesboro is hosting “Downtown After 5” on Friday, November 8, from 5:00-8:00 PM. This event features the small brick-and-mortar businesses located around the historic downtown, staying open late with special treats for customers on Friday evening. “Downtown After 5 is a way to promote coming downtown, an event for those looking to shop, eat, and be entertained on a Friday evening in a historic, quaint setting such as our downtown,” said Executive Director Sarah Callender. Ragan-Smith, Redstone Federal Credit Union, and Compass Insurance Group sponsor the “Downtown After 5” events.
This Downtown After 5 is the kick-off for the holidays! Start working on that gift-giving list by supporting locally-owned businesses with unique purchases for your friends and family. Horse and carriage rides will be around the downtown area, located at the historic Rutherford County Courthouse, for a small cost. The Boro Art Crawl will be set up around the courthouse, with local artists showcasing their talent for sale. Several stores will have pop-up vendors inside their buildings. Musicians will be performing around downtown for your entertainment.
“We have several new restaurants and bars that have opened this past month. Plan to have dinner downtown, shop at the local stores, and stay for a drink. It will be quite the night of entertainment,” said Sarah Callender.
Wilson Bank and Trust will be giving out 100 $10 Biz Bucks to use at participating shops downtown. You can pick one up starting at 5:00 PM in front of the Rutherford County Courthouse. They will go fast, so make plans to get your Biz Buck first thing and then use it while shopping or eating out downtown.
