WILLIAMSON COUNTY, TN - The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) says that wanted fugitive Michael Van Dobbs has been captured, thanks to Williamson County Deputies.

According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, they have successfully apprehended Dobbs, the fugitive wanted for criminal homicide out of Maury County. Dobbs, 48, was taken into custody at approximately 7:00 PM on Friday evening near Garrison Road and Natchez Trace Parkway in Williamson County. After questioning, he was booked into the Williamson County Jail at 1 AM on Saturday morning, where he remains today (Monday, 9/16/24).

Dobbs is a suspect in the murder of Harold “B.J” Grisham and was the subject of a multi-agency search after a TBI Most Wanted Alert was issued. On Friday, he was spotted near the Garrison Creek Trail Head on the Natchez Trace Scenic Trail, wearing a maroon long-sleeve shirt and black shorts. An alert citizen contacted the authorities after spotting the man saying they recognized Dobbs. That citizen told dispatchers he was still in the area, which enabled deputies to locate and apprehend Dobbs without incident.

The suspect is accused of killing Harold “BJ” Grisham II in Maury County, Tennessee. The 37-year-old victim was shot and killed on September 4 at his girlfriend's home, a home that is about 10-miles away from where Dobbs was captured this past Friday.

Grisham resided with his significant other, whose residence is located near Old Leipers Creek Road, approximately two miles from I-840 in Columbia, TN. Some media outlets, along with friends and acquaintances of Grisham, have speculated that the killing may have stemmed from a love triangle. While Dobbs has a lengthy criminal history that spans nearly 20 years, this appears to be the first time he has been accused of murder. Among the nearly 50 charges he has faced in the past are child endangerment, theft, burglary, assault, and drug possession.

Again, the Williamson County Sheriff's Office has captured Michael Van Dobbs, who was wanted for the murder of Harold “BJ” Grisham II, 37, of Maury County, TN.
