RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN - Dawn Roberts, Executive Director of Beesley Animal Foundation, which operates Beesley Animal Clinic, a spay/neuter animal wellness center based in Murfreesboro, told WGNS that pet owners often put their animals before themselves... Volunteers with the Beesley Animal Foundations' outreach program have given away thousands of pounds of free dog and cat food to pet lovers, many of whom have found themselves on hard times... Roberts highlighted the importance of their outreach program, explaining that it’s not just about feeding pets, but also about helping individuals who may be struggling with mental health issues such as depression, bi-polar disorder, schizophrenia and the feeling of being lonely.

The next pet food distribution event will get underway at 1:30 in the afternoon on Thursday, September 19 at the Beesley Animal Clinic. During the upcoming drive-thru food giveaway, area residents can pick-up 3 to 5 pounds of pet food.

One of the more recent outreach events that took place was a curbside vaccination clinic, which occurred this past week. Beesley staff went from car to car speaking with pet owners while giving dogs and cats their vaccines.

Since the opening of the clinic in May of 1992, the Beesley Animal Clinic has performed over 70,000 Spay/Neuter surgeries. Today, the organization remains dedicated to decreasing the suffering caused by pet overpopulation in Rutherford and Cannon Counties. Through partnerships, staff can also help pet owners find the right care for their animal, sometimes at no charge – depending on the situation.
