BEDFORD COUNTY, TN - On June 27th, at approximately 3:00 pm, the Bedford County Sheriff's Office (BCSO) Criminal Investigations Division arrested 42-year-old William Brown of Manchester, TN. Brown's arrest on Thursday was in connection to the June 25th road rage incident on Normandy Rd. that resulted in a young woman being shot. The shooting was near Highway 41a South at approximately 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
The arrest followed extensive efforts by the the Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division, Patrol Division, and Corrections Division investigators. The collaborative investigation also involved the Tennessee Bureau of Investigations, Manchester Police Department, and the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office.
In the apparent road rage incident earlier this week, the victim, a passenger in a vehicle, was a teenage girl who was shot in the head. Paramedics and other first responders treated her at the scene before she was flown by helicopter to a hospital for extensive treatment, where she remains at this time.
Following the incident, tips and information provided by community members to the sheriff's office, combined with the tireless work of detectives, allowed authorities to piece together the events that led to the road rage shooting and ultimately identify William Brown as the suspect.
The white Saturn SUV, believed to be the vehicle Brown was driving at the time of the shooting, was located by authorities. Investigators then transported the vehicle on a flatbed truck to the Sheriff's Office for processing.
Brown is now in custody at the Bedford County Jail, facing four counts of Aggravated Assault, with additional charges pending, according to the Bedford County Sheriff's Office. Authorities have reported that the victim is recovering from her injuries.
